Accreditation
Accreditation is a voluntary process. However, without certain accreditation, there is no guarantee that the program meets the educational standards and guidelines of the profession.
Here at the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics, we are accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and are licensed by the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education for Private Schools.
CAAHEP Accreditation
Our One Year General Sonography program is accredited by CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). CAAHEP is recognized by the CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation) and is a member of the ASPA (Association of Specialized & Professional Accreditors). They have the distinction of being the largest programmatic accreditor of the health sciences professions and is considered the “Gold Standard” for sonography programs.
CAAHEP reviews and accredits more than 2,100 individual education programs in 30 different health science occupations. It is worth noting that all programs accredited by the CAAHEP are continually assessed to ensure they meet each profession’s standards and guidelines.
Because our One Year program is accredited by CAAHEP, our students are allowed to sit for the National Certification exams through the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) 60 days before they graduate, which means that they can be ARDMS registered upon graduation.
ARRT Approval
We are recognized and approved by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiological Technologists), which means that our students can apply for and take the ARRT sonography exam. ARRT is a large credentialing organization with over 330,000 registrants. They provide certification and registration to disciplines throughout the medical imaging and radiation therapy fields.
SDMS Approval
Our Sonography Physics and Instrumentation, OB/GYN, Abdomen and Vascular Applications courses are approved by the SDMS (Society of Diagnostics Medical Sonographers) for continuing medical education credits. SDMS was established in 1970 to help promote, advance and educate members in the diagnostic medical sonography field. The SDMS network consists of more than 28,000 sonographers from all specialty fields as well as educators, sonography students and more.
If you are pursuing a career in sonography, then you’ll want to make sure that the program you attend is a fully accredited organization. Here at the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics, we are accredited and approved by a number of such organizations. Testimonials
Because ultrasound is such a unique modality, training someone strictly on the job would take approximately a year or more. Having the actual classroom knowledge helps so much to understand what you are looking at while scanning. I am sure the degree of Renee’s ability is due to the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics and highly recommend their program.
