New Application Requirements Effective July 2nd, 2025

Effective 7/2/25, IUD will use the following application requirement for consideration into the One Year Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program.

  1. High school diploma, GED, or its equivalent.
  2. Minimum 36 college credits with an overall GPA of a 2.85. Health Care, science, and/or math courses preferred. Credits must be from an accredited school within the United States.
  3. In addition to the required number of college credit hours, all applicants must have taken the following 8 prerequisite courses within the last 10 years and passed each course with a C average or higher. Courses may be contained within the 36 credit hour requirement or in addition to them.

Required Prerequisite courses:

*College Algebra and Composition/Speech may be older than 10 years

**Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT) or a 6 Week or longer Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) will be accepted in place of Patient Care and is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED of those without existing Allied Health background.

ALL PREREQUISITE COURSES MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE AN APPLICANT IS ELIGIBLE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE One YEAR PROGRAM.
